Thursday, 7 March
I woke the morning to the bright rays of the sun. A welcome sight after days of unceasing rain. It was a glorious sight, so much so that even if you had no appointment to keep you would have left the house for the sheer enjoyment of feeling the sun upon your skin.
Alas, I had a Spanish intensive class to get attend so there would be no causal stroll in the pale yellow light. But I was out on the street, breathing deeply of the clean air and relishing the warming rays. As a consequence of my enjoyment I was more upbeat than usual. Not to say that I walked with bent head or sloping shoulders, but this day I had an extra pep in my step and an easiness of being in my demeanor.
This easiness translated into ready smile when I met the gaze of the gentleman appreciating the view before him as he ambled towards me. I maintained eye contact add i too was appreciating the view before me and smiled deeper at his responding quirk of the lips.
I thought that would be all in our mutual morning regard. But I had under estimated the allure of a heartfelt unguarded curve of the lips.
We passed each other, but as I fumbled with my phone and airbuds I felt a presence come up on my left, I turned my head to see nattily dressed gentleman who inquired if wed knew each other. Now I could have said no and kept going as I was already a few minutes late for class. Perhaps it’s the confidence gained from my language class or just seizing gorgeous day in the fullness of the morn; whatever it was I prolonged the conversation. I learns his name and gave him my number and hurried of to class with a bigger smile & even more pep in my step.
In the afternoon I received a message from the gentlemen whom we shall call Pep. After a brief exchange Pep inquired as to my availability so that I could tell him about myself. I know he wanted to know what this little brown girl, well woman, was doing in Barcelona. Unfortunately, Pep will have to wait as I already had plans for my evening. But tomorrow my schedule is wide open but the quarry is being a bit cagey but no matter, the day looms with promise. After the dare I say success of today, I will smile with an open heart and mind, letting go of all expectation and see where the day, universe, G-d takes me. I’ll keep you posted on Pep and any adventures we embark upon. Afterall, it is a Brand New Day.
Have you ever had an encounter that was so unexpected that just rolled with it and saw it through the end? Do tell!
Spring has sprung y’all!!!
The year ‘s at the spring,
And day ‘s at the morn;
Morning ‘s at seven;
The hill-side ‘s dew-pearl’d;
The lark ‘s on the wing;
The snail ‘s on the thorn;
God ‘s in His heaven—
All ‘s right with the world!
